Acyclovir Lip Balm How do I get rid of wounds dry cracks in the corners of my mouth? I had a redness in the corners of my mouth for about 4 months now. It will dry and crack in the morning if I do not put lip balm on all night. I went to the Docter twice now to no avail. He recommended Aveeno (zinc oxide), but this does not work. He did a blood test that has not resulted in anything. The last time he prescribed Acyclovir (for virusus) and it did not work either. It is a minor wounds but they were a giant pain. This may sound stupid to you, but it is possible that this is a yeast infection. It is called angular cheilitis: cracks in the red corner of the mouth is often covered by a pseudo membrane. Make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day. I have the same problem and my doctor told me to drink more water .. and it has helped and I feel better too .. then give it a try. I drink 6 bottles of water per day now. and a few drinks with meals ..
