Colonoscopy Preparation I almost died Preparing for a colonoscopy My name is David and I almost died while having a seizure as a result of my preparation for colonoscopy using OSMOPREP ®. I'm 53 years old and had my last colonoscopy 8 years ago. I was due for another. During my first colonoscopy, I had no side effects of any aspect of the preparation or procedure. I visited my proctologist Murrieta CA recommended using drugs OSMOPREP to clean my system before the colonoscopy. He told me that I much prefer the approach of pills instead of drinking a liter of liquid formula (Nulytely) for the procedure. The doctor did not suggest that there may be reactions possible wrong medicine. When I took the medication at the pharmacy, the warnings did not suggest how the side effects might be. My wife was very concerned that I follow directions very closely while preparing for my colonoscopy. We first read the instructions. Then I went online to make sure that if I had to take 4 tablets every 15 minutes, the manufacturer suggested pills really. They did. I started the plan at the beginning of the day by drinking plenty of water (three 44 oz glasses of water). At 6pm I started to take 4 tablets every 15 minutes OSMOPREP with a glass of water 12 oz. Getting all that water was hard. After taking the tablets for 45 minutes, my back began to burn. My wife dropped for me, but the itching became more severe. Following my face really are itching and irritation. I went and shaved in the hope that a clean face, irritation on my face would go away. When I finished shaving, my feet began to itch. I tried them on a carpet scratchimg rough. It serves no purpose. They started to burn. I then went outside to scrape the concrete - once again, it deteriorated. Within 10 minutes the symptoms of itching, I started to head lightly. I had my wife call 911. She hung up before responding to the call, as she thought she might be called the first doctor to ask about the problems have been have been having with our preparation OSMOPREP using colonoscopy. Back 911 called and asked if we had requested, and if we had an emergency. At that time, I started to vomit. My wife had to send an ambulance. A minute later, my wife looked at my eyes rolled up in my head, I fainted, and dropped my bowl. She was panicked. She quickly went to open the door so people could come and emergency themselves. They arrived within 5 minutes. When the people of urgency finally arrived, they found me unconscious in the bathroom in a mess of my own vomit and feces. They took my heart and put me in the ambulance. They tried to give me fluids intravenously, but even with three attempts failed to get a needle in my veins as they collapsed. After being rolled into the emergency room nurses tried to get an IV started but has not yet thrice. At this stage, they got the head nurse on the floor to try and after three other countries, but I started the IV. They told me that the OSMOPREP dehydrated until my veins collapsed. I was out of consciousness for hours at the hospital. About 3 o'clock the next morning, I was released. The next day, I informed the doctor proctologist that I lived with OSMOPREP and he convinced me to have the procedure since I had already been through so much. The procedure went without a hitch. From my experiance with OSMOPREP, I had little energy and slept more hours than is typical for me. My routine was to bed early and sleep nights from 7 to 7.5 hours. The next morning I was by 6am and be back in bed by 8 hours for a nap of three hours. If I do not have my card morning, I W. Posted on February 4, 2010.
