Grapefruit Oil

Grapefruit OilThen the essential oil of grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) be used internally?

I am a little confused as some sources say you can mix a drop with a glass of water and drink to promote digestive health and weight loss, and others say that it is corrosive and may be harmful 's it is swallowed. What is true? Can I safely consume grapefruit oil?

It seems to depend on the manufacturer ...

grapefruit oil is extracted from the fresh bark by cold and yield of 0.5 to 1%. The sebaceous glands are deeply embedded in the skin and give a small amount of essential oil
This refreshing oil helps stimulate digestion, benefits the immune system by helping to cleanse the lymph system, helps with skin problems, and can be used for muscle stiffness, water retention and strengthen the nervous system.
There are oils that can be ingested safely. They must be therapeutic quality essential oils that is not usually the type used in aromatherapy. Most essential oils of grapefruit on the market are actually seed oil grapefruit, which tastes very bitter.

CAUTION: This oil has a short lifespan.
As with all citrus oils - caution before applying to the skin
before sun exposure.
* All essential oils - ingested in large amounts can be fatal.

I think that I contact the manufacturer rather than risks. All very confusing!

Whatever you can ingest is grapefruit seed extract. This is a great mouthwash anti-bacterial and can be used as first aid for food poisoning and other stomach ailments. Can also be used to remove pesticide residues from vegetables and fruits. Always mix with water.
Not sure about the claims of weight loss.

I have a library of aromatherapy / essential oil books. The consensus is that you do not ingest essential oils, they are too strong. But in the case of grapefruit, some books say ok, it is not toxic, if a drop seems to be OK. No reference book says to use for weight loss.
