Inflammation Healing with Essential Oils The most dedicated athletes are willing to try anything within reason (a very flexible term in itself) to overcome injury so they can resume training and / or competition. "Rest" is never what they want to hear - they want the right back in the rhythm of things. The most common injuries - tendonitis, sprains and strains and variations of these conditions are found in many sports, they usually include some kind of inflammation and tissue damage. Relief programs are fairly well known, they each have their advantages and disadvantages. Rarely, however, athletes and coaches discuss the possibilities of "aroma' therapy. The name itself is a "very delicate type-meaning" of medicine, not considered strong enough or truly effective enough for practical application. However, what aromatherapy is really working with phytochemicals complex with a wide spectrum of interaction with human biochemistry. It was under these auspices that athletes and coaches can investigate the usefulness of Helichrysum italicum essential oil.
Medical aromatherapists understand the effectiveness of essential oils for specific conditions, the oils are not considered a natural panacea, but each plant offers a unique chemical compounds with clear effects. Beyond the effects of each chemical compound in an oil well, a certain efficacy of oil is a clear synergy of the particular chemical composition. chemical compounds in essential oils are well known antivirals, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, expectorants, mucolytics, anti-tumorials ... and the list goes on. Some essential oils contain the synergies of these compounds, oils suggested for colds contain components that are antibacterial, antiviral, and mucolytics (cleans the airways), all in an essential oil. And what does this offer for the injured athlete? The possibility of accelerating the return to training and competition with Helichrysum italicum essential oil, which contains a synergy of compounds that may act to promote the healing of a wide variety of common injuries.
The physiological basis of many sports injuries, both chronic - from overuse - and acute, shock, sprains and strains, have many similarities. There are usually cells that have suffered structural damage - enough that the cells die and must be re-developed. It is usually inflammation, which may be a way to protect the cells, or a result of leakage of fluid into the intracellular space. This liquid can be damaged blood capillaries, and appear as bruising, swelling or other prevents adequate perfusion - or nutrient and waste exchange - the damaged site. This can lead to secondary damage - where the cells around the damaged tendon origin, ligament or muscle cells also become damaged by lack of oxygenation or nutrient supply. Further damage can occur by the overproduction of free radicals in these conditions. One can imagine the phenomenon of ice applied immediately after injury, resulting in significantly shorter recovery (and less painful) - a long wait increases the likelihood of secondary damage. The ice prevents the secondary damage associated with swelling and oxidation occur.
Now for a look at the synergistic action of Helichrysum italicum essential oil (there are several types of Helichrysum essential oil available - it's italicum, also known as eternal or immortal, who has these special properties. It is rarer and more expensive than other types of Helichrysum, but worth the extra cost). Helichrysum has a high percentage of sesquiterpenes anti-inflammatory drugs - nearly 50% of its makeup. Another 40% is composed of esters with marked relaxing effects on tissues - relieving tension in injured areas and allowing natural infusion take place. The third important element is a di-ketone, which signals tissues to regenerate.
