Leaky Shower Head

Leaky Shower HeadInstall low flow showerheads and toilets - save energy and money

Did you know that the shower heads low-speed use between 1.6 to 2.6 liters per minute while showering former heads use 2.6 to 5.2 liters per minute? Probably a silly question to ask, but the most amazing part about these statistics is that you can not actually tell a difference in water pressure.

Now I realize that most everyone takes showers now days because of convenience, but some people like to take baths instead of showers to the occasion, or perhaps even frequently. The truth is, few people remember how to use more water to fill the bath part.

I know I will not tell you by not filling the tub again, but just so you know, the average person uses 78 gallons of water each time they take a bath? When you compare that to 10 minutes of low-flow shower head uses only 16 gallons, now what do you think? Remember, you are just wasting water but electricity or gas it took to heat the water too, not to mention the sewage or wastewater bill goes along with it.

So, in essence, if you have city water, you pay for swimming in 3 different ways. You pay for the water itself, electricity or natural gas to heat the water used, and you pay for waste water when the water goes down the drain.

My goal is simply to make you aware of possible waste of resources and while you put a real effort in saving water and money, check your toilet of a gallon per flush (GPF). You may have an older toilet that uses 7, 5, or 3.5 GPF water while new economy standard is 1.6 GPF. You can even obtain a dual-flush that uses 1.6 GPF or 0.8 depending on, well we'll just say # 1 or # 2. A dual flush toilet water easily save you up to $ 100 per year on water and sewage or waste water bills.

Do you have a leaky faucet?

If you do, you should be aware that one drop per second can add up to 165 gallons per month. To better put this in perspective, 165 gallons is more than the average person uses about two weeks. In this spirit, you want to fix your leaky faucet as soon as possible because waiting could cost you more than a new shiny.
