Oil Vial

I want to put a sheet of gold in a vial of suspension and fill the bottle of oil so that the gold "floats" in the oil. What oil is best for this application?

After some research I found that what is sometimes used is a combination of alcohol and glycerine, although I was not able to find the ratio of these substances. You can try a light mineral oil, but even this may be too thick.
