Plastic Bathtub How can you safely remove old varnish stains from a plastic tub? We bought a house and found what seems to be old varnish or stain marks here and there in our bathroom which is a thick plastic. The wall around the tub is surrounded by panels of cedar. The stain in the bathtub is the stain on the wood. Looking for a safe way to remove, preferably natural or if there is a product that will remove it without eating into the plastic tub. You can try a product called CLR it removes a large number of other permanent stains on a lot of household items - you can buy in supermarkets Try the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. This little devil works wonders on things in my house cleaner than any other contact. That's incredible. I wish I had invented ... I'd be rich! :) scrape it with a razor blade water paint and varnish will not hurt THR bath, but try it on a small area first, just to be sure. Cillit Bang! Posted on February 8, 2010.
